Mavis Reece Collier, age 92, of Decatur, passed away Friday, January 1, 2016 at her residence. She was born May 7, 1923 to William B. Reece and Lena Pitts.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Bill and Lena Reece, husband: Byrum H. Collier, son: Jimmy Collier, brother: Buddy Reece, sisters: Mildred Bolton and Marjorie Ferguson and son in laws: Louis Russell and Steve Bailey.
Services will be Monday, January 4, 2016 at 2:00PM at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. John Taggart officiating. Visitation will be Monday, January 4, 2016 from 11:30AM until 1:45PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Athens City Cemetery.
Mavis is survived by her daughters: Judy Russell and Linda Bailey Thompson (Steve) both of Decatur, Alabama, grandchildren: Steve Bailey, Brad Bailey, Shannon Bailey, Brandon Bailey, Alyson Carpenter, Tim Sharp, Traci Sherman, Amy Herron, Angie Boegh and Greg Russell, nineteen great grandchildren, ten great great grandchildren and daughter in law: Anita Collier.
She was a member of Athens Church of God and a former resident of Athens, Alabama.
Pallbearers will be the grandsons and honorary pallbearers will be the great grandsons.
