MONTGOMERY-To better manage Alabama’s white-tailed deer resources the Wildlife Section of the Division of Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries is actively conducting research throughout the state. One aspect of research in which we need your help is the avid bowhunter survey. If you expect to bowhunt at least 10 days in Alabama during the 2015-2016 hunting season your assistance in collecting data is needed. Information collected will provide agency personnel with data to monitor deer populations and measure hunter satisfaction and success. The information you will be requested to provide includes the county you hunted in, the date and times of each hunt, number of bucks, does, and fawns seen, type of land being hunted, and some other basic information.
Your assistance in this effort is genuinely needed and greatly appreciated. Your cooperation provides you the opportunity to be a part in the management of Alabama’s white-tailed deer resources.
Once you agree to participate and enroll as a participant you will be provided the information needed to access the online database to enter information from each of your hunts. The online database is user friendly and is available for smartphone users as well. This gives you the opportunity to enter your data at the conclusion of each hunt or wait until a computer is available.
To enroll in the survey email robin.heath@dcnr.alabama.gov and provide your email address.
