LEIPER’S FORK– This year’s lucky number 13 Annual ForkFest will feel like ole home week when powerhouse rock ‘n’ soul band Hippies & Cowboys take the stage at the Lawnchair Theatre. The free, outdoor concert in the historic village of Leiper’s Fork, kicks off at 3 p.m., Oct. 25 to celebrate music and community. Alyssa Flaherty, who performs often at the iconic local venue Fox & Locke, is set to open the show.

Hippies & Cowboys, one of the hottest bands around, performs music built on grit, groove, and the raw electricity of classic Southern rock. The band’s early performances included open mic night at Fox & Locke. Their debut release, Live at Fox and Locke (2023), bottled the no-holds-barred energy of their live show and quickly earned critical acclaim.

“We’re always excited to have Hippies & Cowboys in The Fork,” said ForkFest manager and music man Casey Wasner. “They are one of the most exciting rock and soul bands in the country. We’re lucky to have them this year.”

The band’s EP “Fork in The Road” was produced by Wasner and recorded at his Purple House Studio in Leiper’s Fork.

Alyssa Flaherty uprooted from Annapolis, MD and settled in Nashville, where she dedicated herself to songwriting and performing. A pivotal moment arrived when Alyssa shared the stage with Kevin Costner and his band, Modern West, marking a milestone in her burgeoning career. Further validating her talent, Alyssa was featured in Costner’s series, “Horizon: An American Saga,” singing the timeless hymn, “Amazing Grace.”

Fork Festers are urged to come early to shop in the village, have lunch at specialty food trucks and local eateries, and enjoy the inspiring music of Hippies & Cowboys and Alyssa Flaherty. The event is a free, rain or shine event. Attendees are reminded to follow the parking instructions at the east entrance to the village. Don’t forget to bring a lawn chair and gather in the Lawnchair Theatre at 4144 Old Hillsboro Road behind Leiper’s Creek Gallery at 3 p.m. CDT, Oct. 25. No pets and no coolers are allowed.
