Memorial service for Mrs. Mary Jo Lankford of Macon, GA and formerly of Scottsboro, AL will be Sunday, August 23, 2015 at 2:30 p.m. at Rudder Funeral Home (716 South Broad Street – Scottsboro, AL) with Rev. Charles Cobb officiating. The family will greet friends beginning at 1:00 PM prior to the funeral service.
Mary Jo was born in Scottsboro, Alabama to the late Mary Irene Jordan and Archie Stapler and was preceded in death by her husband, Henry C. Lankford, and son, Miles Lankford Sr. Mary Jo worked as a Teacher, Counselor and Administrator at Scottsboro and Stevenson High School for over 37 years. She also enjoyed cooking, shopping, and working in her garden. She served as a pianist at several local community churches. She was an involved citizen of Scottsboro and devoted numerous hours in the service of others. She was a devoted member of Joyce Chapel UMC until she moved to Macon GA. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend.
Survivors include her children, Taylor (Vicky) Lankford, and Cameron (Camille) Lankford; sister Deborah Joyner; grandchildren, Stephanie Lankford, Rashad Lankford, Jordan Lankford and Miles Lankford II. She had one great grandchild and two nephews Anthony and Koran Joyner, and other extended family.
