A local outreach organization, "Room in the Inn Shoals" is opening a heat-shelter for those who can't otherwise avoid the heat. Here is what they say on their Facebook page: "Due to the forecast for extremely high temperatures this week, the Room in the Inn Shoals will be open this Monday thru Friday from 2-4 pm as a cooling relief center. Anyone needing cold water, sunscreen, Popsicles or other cooling items are welcome to come between 2-4 each afternoon. We are located at 104 S. Poplar Street in downtown Florence. If you have cooling relief items to donate, please message us here or send us an email to roomintheinnshoals@gmail.com and we can coordinate receiving your donations.
As always, we thank our community so much for your support and help. Our primary mission at Room in the Inn is to serve our community as a shelter during the winter, but we are grateful to be able to have the resources to offer relief during other extreme weather. If you have questions about what our organization does or how you can help, please send us a message. I will do my best to respond in a timely manner – I am sorry if you’ve communicated with us and we haven’t responded!! We are a total volunteer organization, and I’m sometimes the only person getting all the phone calls, emails and messages, and things have been busy! If you’ve reached out to us in the past and we’ve not gotten back to you, please give us another chance to connect with you. We value all of the support and offers from the community – we couldn’t do any of this without you. – Peace & Blessings, Krista “
