Nominations Accepted for Alabama Senior Citizen Hall of Fame

deptofsenior-servicesMONTGOMERY-The Alabama Senior Citizens Hall of Fame Selections Committee is accepting recommendations for nominees for induction into the Hall of Fame this year.

The Hall of Fame was created by the Alabama Legislature on July 28, 1983 in order to bestow honor and recognition to Alabamians aged 60 or above for their outstanding contribution to the lives of older Americans. Nominees can also be recognized for their contributions in various categories including: Educator, Religious, Elected Official, Health Professional, Communications, Legal, Military Services. Couples celebrating 65 or more wedding anniversaries and individuals who are celebrating a birthday of 100 years or more can also be nominated and will be recognized.

recognized for their selfless advocacy and dedication serving older adults in our local communities” says Neal Morrison, Commissioner with the Alabama Department of Senior Services. “It is important for Alabamians to be a part of this process by nominating someone who has made a difference in this capacity”.

The deadline to submit recommendations is June 15, 2015. The Senior Citizens Hall of Fame Nomination Form can be found by visiting www.AlabamaAgeline.gov, or by contacting Robyn James at 334-353-9273 or at robyn.james@adss.alabama.gov.

The induction ceremony will be held Sunday, August 16, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Montgomery located at 305 S. Perry Street.
