nancyNancy Wayne Hendricks, 83, of Huntsville, Alabama passed away on Sunday, October 26, 2014. She was preceded in death by parents, Price Wayne and Pauline Nance Hendricks of Athens, Alabama.

Survivors include sister, Ann Boone Hendricks Wiley of Nashville, TN; nephews, David Warren Wiley III (Brigitte) and Price Hendricks Wiley (Joanna); niece, Ann Wiley Hunt; six great-nieces and one great-nephew, Brigitte Haden Wiley, Catherine Ann Wiley, Cynthia Kirby Wiley, John Wiley Hunt, Emma Hunt Lovell (Phillip), Helen Nance Wiley, and Grace Reed Wiley. Nancy had 10 first cousins, 26 first cousins once removed, 41 second cousins, and 24 second cousins once removed. Nancy was loved by caring friends, Sara Clay, Robert Clay and Susie Thompson.

Nancy was a registered dietician until she retired on May 31, 2004. She was a member of the American Dietetic Association, the Alabama Dietetic Association and the North Alabama District Dietetic Association. She was a dedicated member of the Altrusa Club of Huntsville, where she served four consecutive terms as president. Nancy was also actively involved with the NSCDA and Church of the Nativity. In her spare time Nancy volunteered for the Historic Huntsville Foundation (at Harrison Bros.) and the Broadway Theater League.

Nancy was a descendant of Early North Alabama Families, 6th generation of Limestone County and 7th generation of Madison County. She was also a descendant of Early American Colonists; Father’s family 1637 – 13th generation, Mother’s family 1636 – 14th generation.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. A graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Athens City Cemetery with The Rev. Dr. Andy Anderson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Nancy Wayne Hendricks Endowed Scholarship, College of Human Environment Sciences at the University of Alabama Tuscaloosa, the Project Shore at Huntsville Utilities (via Salvation Army), Hospital Hospitality House of Huntsville, the Huntsville Library Book Fund, or to Houston Memorial Library, Athens, AL.
