Athens State Foundation Board Names New Members

Athens StateATHENS– The Athens State University Foundation Board of Directors held its quarterly meeting on May 22.  Three new members of the board were introduced. Joining the volunteer board are Ms. Patty Anderson, Dr. Mike Essary and Mr. Tim Lovelace.

Anderson, from Decatur, works in technology sales for Dynetics, Inc. in Huntsville.  She graduated cum laude with a degree in Psychology from Athens State and holds a Master of Science degree in Information Assurance and Security from UAHuntsville.  She is serving as a committee chair for the upcoming Athens State President’s Ball in February of 2015.

Dr. Mike Essary

Dr. Mike Essary

Essary is from Decatur and serves as an Associate Professor of Management of Technology in the College of Business at Athens State.  He has twice been elected by the faculty to serve as the Presiding Officer of the Faculty Senate.   Essary serves as the Budget Committee Chair for the upcoming Athens State President’s Ball, and as the President of the Tennessee Valley Chapter of Advancing Productivity, Innovation, and Competitive Success (APICS). Prior to teaching, he had a successful career in the pharmaceutical and manufacturing industries.  Essary holds a Doctorate in Finance from Northcentral University.

Lovelace is the Decatur City President for Renasant Bank and has held that position

Mr. Tim Lovelace

for six years.  He received his degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of North Alabama.  Lovelace serves on the board of directors for the Decatur Morgan County Chamber of Commerce, the Decatur Morgan Port Authority, and the Greater Alabama Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
