Florence Truluck Wiley, age 100, of Madison, Alabama, passed away on August 20, 2026. She was born in Lakeland, Florida, to Elizabeth and Howell B. Truluck.Florence was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose life was centered around the people she loved. After the father of her children passed away over 40 years ago, Florence became the glue that held her family together. With strength, devotion, and an extraordinary capacity for love, she remained the heart of the family through the many years that followed.
A homemaker, Florence found happiness in caring for her home, working in her yard, and most of all, spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her family was the absolute center of her universe, and her love for them defined who she was. Her eyes seemed to shine brightest when the house was filled with the joyful, chaotic laughter of her grandchildren running through it. Those were the moments she treasured most. She found her greatest joy and purpose in watching her family grow, flourish, and remain close to one another.
Florence had a big heart and a gentle, giving spirit. She was kind to everyone in her life and would do anything she could to help someone in need. She was loved by many, including friends who came to consider her a second mother. Her warmth, generosity, and steady presence touched far more lives than she probably ever realized.
Her faith was also an important part of her life. Florence attended Woodland Hills Baptist Church and dearly loved going to church and Sunday School, continuing to attend for as long as she was able.
Florence is survived by her son, Roxy Wiley (Faye); daughters, Sheila Peoples and Judy Milburn (David); grandsons, Dustin McNeal (Teryn) and Blake Peoples (Whitley); granddaughters, Tabitha Whalen (Kelley), Tracy Cooper (Bennie), and Tammy Brown; great-grandchildren, Harrison McNeal, Avery McNeal, Parker McNeal, Brandon Peoples, Tyler Whalen (Laura), Jordan Whalen, Paige Vaughn (Ethan), Emily Talton (Matthew), Heather Coufal (Ty), and Matthew Gentle; and great-great-grandchildren, Everly Vaughn, Elliott Talton, and Beck Talton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry S. Wiley; her parents, Elizabeth and Howell Truluck; her brothers, Elmer Truluck and Charles Truluck; and her sister, Vera Wright.
Florence lived a remarkable 100 years, but the true measure of her life cannot be found simply in the number of years she lived. It can be found in the family she held together, the people she helped, the friends she welcomed as family, and the generations who grew up knowing the unconditional love of a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose greatest happiness came from being surrounded by those she loved.
Her family will forever carry with them her kindness, her strength, her faith, and above all, her extraordinary love for them.
Visitation will be held at Valhalla Funeral Home (Huntsville), 698 Winchester Road NE, Huntsville, Alabama on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm, followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:00 pm. Mrs. Wiley will be laid to rest next to her husband at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
