Michael Daniel Age, 48, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, August 19, 2026, in Hanceville, AL.Michael was born to Janet Reid and the late Steven Age in Louisville, KY. He was a ‘96 graduate of DeSales High School, and Eastern Kentucky University, majoring in expressive therapy. He received his masters degree from the University of Louisville .
Michael was a deep thinker, remarkably knowledgeable with a life-long passion for learning. He could spend hours conversing about a multitude of topics from his faith to the stock market. Michael was a talented artist, and enjoyed the outdoors. He appreciated self-reliance and emergency preparedness and created a YouTube channel, The Art of Prepping. He authored, Gray Man Tactics: Strategies of the Unseen and Unknown, Project Readiness: How to build the Perfect Readiness Kit, The Art of Prepping: A Preparedness Review and Project Hope: How to Create the Perfect Readiness Kit System.
Although he cherished his solitude, he was a constant presence in his mother’s and brother’s lives, always just a phone call away.
Michael expressed his love and gratitude for his family freely and it is this affirmation and their unshakable faith that will carry them forward in his absence.
He was preceded in death by his father, Steven Age, and grandparents, Leo Reid and Norman and Margie Age.
Michael is survived by his mother, Janet Reid; brother, Nick Age (Wendy); grandmother, Jennie Reid, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation will be from 8:30 – 10:00 a.m. (CT) Tuesday, August 25, 2026, followed by a 10:00 a.m. funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Church, 217 2nd St. SE, Cullman, AL 35055.
Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
