WALKER COUNTY – On Wednesday, Aug. 19, at approximately 5 p.m., at the request of the
Cordova Police Department, Special Agents assigned to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s
(ALEA) State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) launched an investigation into a homicide that
occurred in the 600 Block of Beville Drive in Cordova, located within Walker County.

Special Agents identified Sandra Moore, 59, of Cordova, as the victim. Over the course of the
investigation, evidence led to the arrest of Billy Wayne Reid, 65, of Cordova. Reid was charged
with Murder and booked into the Walker County Jail.
Nothing further is available as the investigation remains ongoing.

Few details have been released, but Walker County Coroner Joey Vick said Moore was pronounced dead at 9:50 p.m. Wednesday at her home in Cordova.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s State Bureau of Investigation is leading the probe.
Vick said Moore’s body was sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences to confirm the cause of Moore’s death.
Reid was taken into custody on Thursday and remains held in the Walker County Jail.
