Jerry Wayne Mashburn age 69, of the Short Mountain Community passed away Friday August 14, 2026, at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville. He was born March 17, 1957, to his parents the late Ernest Carl and Mildred Louise Cox Mashburn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jeremy Mashburn; siblings, Larry Joe Mashburn, Edith Spurlock, Ernest Mashburn, Jr. and two infant siblings. Mr. Mashburn was a member of Church of Jesus Christ and worked as a Truck Driver. He is survived by wife, Marilyn Mashburn of Smithville; daughter, Miranda Murphy of Smithville; son, Brian Hutchens of Dutton, AL; siblings, James Earl Mashburn of Sparta, Charles Eugene Mashburn of Sparta, Mary Sue Grayson of Scottsboro, AL, Kathy Marie (David) Gulley of New Hope, AL, and Linda McNeese of Grant, AL; several nieces and nephews also survive. Graveside services and interment will be 1 PM Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at Hale Cemetery with Bro. Zach Murphy officiating. No services or visitation will be held at the funeral home, family and friends will meet at Hale Cemetery for graveside services. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is honored to care for the Mashburn family.
