John Robert Plummer, Jr. of Centre, AL formerly of Cartersville, GA went to his heavenly home on Wednesday August 12, 2026.Born on June 17,1947, he is the son of John Robert Plummer, Sr and the late Ella C. Plummer. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Cynthia “Cindy” Anne Vaughn Plummer, his mother, Ella C. Plummer, a special aunt and uncle, Lonnie and Helen C. Jenkins and a sister-in-law Janet Lynn Vaughn.
He is survived by his father, John R. Plummer, Sr, two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Plummer-McKinney of Delaware and
Marcie Anne McElroy of Georgia, a grandson, Kiefer Douglas Collum of Georgia and a brother-in-law, David Rose (Kimberly) of Florida as well as many special friends including Ray Haynes, Tony Stansell, Tammy Serio, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Bridges, Sam Griggs and Todd Beuckens.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Centre, AL and an avid supporter of the National Association on Mental Illness as well as the Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance.
John was very skilled craftsman and enjoyed gold panning, coin collecting and woodworking as well as spending time with his beloved Spunky cat, his raccoons and loves watching various bird species including woodpeckers and cardinals enjoying shelled peanuts, sunflower seeds and birdseed on his back deck.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to First Baptist Church Centre new building fund.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Southern Care Hospice, Gregory Harris, MD at Harbin Clinic Oncology Center in Rome GA and Floyd Atrium Health Infusion Therapy Department in Rome, GA for their compassion and commitment to Mr. Plummer’s care during the final chapter of his life. The family also wishes to thank various members of First Baptist Church Centre especially Mr. Plummer’s Sunday School class for their love and support in meeting basic needs for the family.
