Stephen Everton Jones of Lynnville, Tennessee passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Maury Regional Medical Center. He was born in Black River, Jamacia on March 23, 1956, and was 70 years old.
Stephen’s life was a testament to faith, family, and hard work. At the age of seven, his family migrated to England, leaving behind the fields he loved to explore and the mango and guava trees that held many of his happiest childhood memories. They found a church home at Handsworth Seventh-day Adventist Church, where Stephen’s faith began to flourish. During these formative years, he actively participated in church and community activities, including the Pathfinders Club, which helped shape his lifelong commitment to Christian service. He also developed a passion for homing pigeons, a hobby that brought him great joy and remained with him throughout his adult life.
In search of more opportunities for his family, Stephen’s father relocated his family to the United States in 1973. Stephen worked alongside his father, learning and mastering the trades of construction and carpentry. His strong work ethic, attention to detail, and dedication to providing for his family became defining qualities that would carry him through a successful career. In 1979, he met the love of his life, Linda Ann Cornelius of Greensboro, North Carolina. They were united in marriage in 1981 and were blessed with five sons. Together they built a loving home in Lynnville, Tennessee, where Stephen worked throughout Middle Tennessee for more than thirty years.
Above all, Stephen was a devoted Christian and a faithful member and leader of the Seventh-day Adventist Reform Movement. His relationship with Jesus Christ was the foundation of his life, and he sought every opportunity to share God’s love and the hope found in Scripture with those around him. Whether through conversation, acts of kindness, or quiet encouragement, Stephen enjoyed witnessing to others and living out his faith each day. He will be remembered as a humble servant of God, a loving husband, devoted father, skilled craftsman, faithful friend, and a man whose unwavering faith touched countless lives.
