Amelia Case Speer, 79, of Athens, Alabama, passed away peacefully at her home on June 21, 2026. Born on March 2, 1947, she was the daughter of Foster Wright Case and Era Lee Shores Case.
Amelia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She devoted her life to her family and found great joy in spending time with those she loved. Her kindness, warmth, and caring spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Patrick Gordon Speer; her children, Amy Speer Havely (Vicki Noah), Wendy Speer Miller (Greg), and Patrick John Speer (Traci); her grandchildren, Jacob Speer (Natalie), Sydney Barksdale (Jarod), and Aidan Miller; and her great-grandchildren, Reece Speer, Kensley Speer, Amelia Thomas, Anna Kay Speer, and Ivy Renee Barksdale.
She is also survived by her siblings, John Case (Susan), Wanda Merk (Eric), Jean Jenkins, and Joan Austbrooks (Ron), along with numerous extended family members and friends who will cherish her memory.
Amelia was preceded in death by her parents, Foster Wright Case and Era Lee Shores Case; her sister, Carolyn Case Holderfield; and her brother, Albert Roy Case.
The family will hold a memorial service at a later date.
Amelia’s love, strength, and devotion to her family will forever remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her. Her memory will be treasured and her legacy carried on through the generations she loved so dearly.
