Obituary of Dennis Lane Moore It is with heavy hearts and profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Dennis Lane Moore, a man whose life was a testament to resilience, love, and faith. Dennis closed his eyes to sleep on June 19, 2026, at the age of 75, with his beloved wife Shela by his side and awoke in Heaven in the presence of Jesus. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, unwavering faith, and a life well lived.

Born on December 14, 1950, in Gadsden, Alabama, Dennis was the beloved son of Milton “Toby” Moore and Sylvia Chambers Moore.

Dennis’s journey through life was marked by both trials and triumphs. He faced numerous challenges with courage and grace, including surviving serious work-related injuries, several automobile accidents, and cancer—true miracles that strengthened his testimony. Through it all, Dennis never wavered in his faith, embodying the love and mercy of his Heavenly Father.

Dennis was a devoted member of Safe Harbor Church of God. He was known for his big smile, contagious laughter, and his remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome. Dennis never met a stranger and had a special gift for offering words of encouragement, leaving a lasting impression on all who crossed his path. He loved sharing his testimony, giving praise to God, and openly expressing his love for his Lord and Savior.

For 59 years, Dennis shared his life with the love of his life, Shela Henegar Moore. Their marriage was a beautiful testimony of love, devotion, and the power of a shared journey. Together they enjoyed a life filled with joy, laughter, long car rides, cloud watching, traveling, and simply being together, no matter where the road of life led them.

Dennis was a 1970 graduate of Emma Sansom High School, where he excelled on the basketball court. A former Sansom Rebel once said it best: “Dennis was something else on the hardwood. He loved basketball, and people loved watching him.” Blessed with a natural God-given athletic ability, Dennis also enjoyed golfing and other sports throughout his life.

Following high school, Dennis worked for the City of Gadsden, Midwestern Republic Steel, and Goodyear. He later became the owner and operator of Super Mobile Pressure Washing Company.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Shela Moore; his brother, Steve Moore and family; sisters-in-law, Annette Steakley and Rhonda (Tim) Williams; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Milton “Toby” Moore and Sylvia Moore; his sister, Vickie Calhoun; and his brother, Terry Moore.

A celebration of Dennis’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Collier-Butler Funeral Home. Pastor Michael Knight will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Forrest Cemetery, where a graveside service will be officiated by Bro. J.L. Knight.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until the hour of service on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Steakley, Jared White, Billy Thomas, Paul Smith, Jeff Pitts, and Chessley Richardson.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. James Robinson, Jessica Voss Mayes, NP, Susan Richards and the staff of Bay Street Medical for their compassionate care. They also extend a special thank you to the many friends and family members who prayed, visited, texted, called, sent cards, brought gifts, and prepared meals during Dennis’s illness and passing. Your love, kindness, and support will never be forgotten.
