Bernice “Bea” Long Elkins, 95, peacefully passed away on August 22, 2026. She was born Frankie Bernice Mullins on August 17, 1931, in Jackson, TN to the late William Edward and Vester Mullins. She was a beloved mother, sister, aunt, and friend, but her most treasured title was being “Mimi” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Bea was a faithful member of Englewood Baptist Church for over 50 years and her strong faith carried her into her final days. After her retirement t at Piercy Employment Agency, Bea enjoyed spending her time volunteering as a “Pink Lady” with the Volunteer Auxiliary at Jackson Madison General Hospital, as well as volunteering at Birth Choice and the Madison County Election Polls. She also cherished many years of playing Bunco and lunching with a group of dear friends.
In the later part of her life, she was proud and blessed to have been the wife of the late Horace “Hot” Elkins. Bea lived a long and full life and will be deeply missed by all that love her.
Aside from her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved grandson, Stephen Simpson, Jr.; great-granddaughter, Lucy Simpson; sisters, Gladys Rhines, Dorothy Rogers, and Frances Hatmaker; and brothers, Harvey Mullins and Raymond Mullins.
Bea is survived by her treasured daughter, Cathy Long Simpson Price (Roger); grandchildren, Hunter Simpson (Mimi) and Catherine Dismuke (Bryan); great-grandchildren, Tyner, Maggie, Hunt, and Luke Simpson and Field, Lila, and Hayes Dismuke; brother, Phillip Mullins; sisters, Phyllis Spellings, Peggy Ferguson, Paula Turner, and Pam Charles; and several nieces and nephews who dearly loved their “Aunt Bea”.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 25, 2026, in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors. A graveside service will follow at 12:00 p.m. at Ridgecrest Cemetery.
