Mark Steven Hamner, age 74, of Green Hill, Alabama, passed away on May 22, 2026. He was born on April 10, 1952, the eldest son of Horace and Genora Ann (Josie) Hamner. Mark lived his whole life in Green Hill and was married to his wife, Martha (Gruber) Hamner, for 54 years. He was a proud father to two daughters, Molly Roby of Williamstown, West Virginia, and Monica Johnson of Oxford, Mississippi, and a loving grandfather to Walt Johnson and wife Mackenzie, Josi Johnson, Nate Floding, and Jolie Floding. Mark worked as an industrial painter for E.A. Nelson until a life-changing accident in 1983. After that time, he committed himself to his first love – farming. He was fully committed to whatever hobby he was into at the time, from cars and motorcycles to horses. Later in life found enjoyment in woodworking, spending time building and creating with his hands – just like his beloved granddaddy Bradley Clemmons. He is also survived by his brother, Greg Hamner, along with multiple cousins and extended family members who loved him dearly. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 26, 2026, from 11:00am – 1:00pm, at North Carolina Church of Christ. The funeral service will follow at 1:00pm, at the church, with Walt Johnson, Greg Hamner, Jordan Hamner & Brad Adcock. Burial will be at North Carolina Cemetery. Mark will be remembered for his wild stories (and there were many) of his experiences and his love of his family. Pallbearers will be: Nate Floding, Walt Johnson, Colt Clemmons, Rowe Clemmons, Benson Hamner & John Clemmons. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to: Isaiah’s Call (which provides food to local children who are experiencing food insecurity) P.O. Box 2194 Florence, AL 35630
