Dr. Woodie Deming Profile Photo Woodie Monroe Deming, age 76, passed away March 30, 2025, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

He was born August 19, 1948, in Henderson, and grew up in the Deanburg Community of Chester County, the son of the late Willard Odell Deming and Mary Lou Woods. He graduated from Chester County High School in 1966 and graduated from Tennessee Tech University at Cookeville with a degree in Engineering Sciences. He married Frieda Wilson while at Tennessee Tech. He graduated from the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Memphis and entered the Army and served at Dwight D. Eisenhower Medical Center in Augusta, Georgia.

He moved to Jackson after the service and began his medical practice. He worked at Medical Specialty Clinic and Jackson General Hospital. He later practiced at Regional Cardiology Consultants. He was one of the first cardiologist to do cardiac stents in the state of Tennessee and the southeast. He married Pamela Burse, and they made their home in Jackson. He had served as Director of Cardiology at Jackson General Hospital, specializing in cardiac catheterization.

He took pride in his work and family. He was a dedicated doctor that cared deeply for his patients and was very generous in giving to others. He adored his children and enjoyed spending time with them. His favorite things to do where cheering on the Tennessee Volunteers and taking long walks on the beach.

Dr. Deming is survived by a son, John Allen Deming (Carolina) of Waxhaw, NC and two daughters, Joy Ellen Deming (Jimmy Taylor) of Jackson and Madison Maxwell (Lee Alan) of Murfreesboro, TN; three grandchildren, Lilly Rieken, Lucas Deming and Levi Deming and one great grandchild, Beau Rieken, a brother, Ronald Deming of McKenzie and two sisters, Carolyn Goff of Deanburg and Sylvia Heard of Lawrenceburg.

Memorial services will be 2:00 PM Friday, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Ricky Burse officiating and John, Joy and Madison speaking. Burial will be at Bethel Cemetery at a later date.

The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM service time Friday.
