William Sidney Sloan, 82, joined his beloved wife “Deanie” Sloan in heaven after departing this life on Tuesday night June 25, 2024, at his home in Snow Lake Shores.
A graveside service honoring Mr. Sidney’s life will be at 10 AM Sunday morning June 30, 2024, in the Ashland City Cemetery. Ripley Funeral Home will be handling all the arrangements.
Born July 2, 1941, in Philadelphia, Mississippi, Mr. Sidney was the son of the late Sidney Wilson Sloan and Maurine Young Sloan Morgan. On March 11, 1960, he married his sweetheart, Mrs. Ida Ladean “Deanie” Sloan, where together they lived in Miami, Florida working and raising a family. Mr. Sidney was a hard worker, working in the road construction industry as a supervisor with General Asphalt until his retirement.
After retirement, they moved to Snow Lake Shores, where Mr. Sidney found joy in hunting, fishing, working a garden, growing vegetables, watching “old school” westerns and even though he wouldn’t admit it, he loved his animals. Quite the handy man, he worked on his own vehicles, fixed whatever needed fixing, and believed there was no reason in spending money hiring someone to do something, because he could do it himself. He was a man of few words to people that didn’t know him, but yet loved “carrying on” with his close friends. His family was important, and he was proud of his girls, always trying to be a great father and providing for them. His grandchildren meant so much, and he looked forward to seeing them any chance he had. Above all Mr. Sidney loved his wife, “Deanie”. She was his whole world and gave his life a purpose. They did everything together and for sixty-three years they built a beautiful life. They worked hard to get what they have, raised a wonderful family, and loved each other more than anything else. Although we will miss him deeply, today we find comfort in knowing that hand in hand, Mr. Sidney and Deanie are finally at peace, together in paradise.
Those left to cherish his memories include three daughters, Kimberly Sloan, Leslie Duble, and Esther Green, six grandchildren, Ashley Patrone (Juan), Justin Wilkes, Kyle Young (Sarah), Shelby Green, Dillon Wilkes, and Jarrod Duble, and seven great grandchildren, Gabriella Patrone, Juan “JP” Patrone Jr., Alexandar Patrone, Blake Wilkes, Harper Young, Emersyn “Emmie” Young, and William “Liam” Wilkes.
Those serving as pallbearers will be Justin Wilkes, Dillon Wilkes, Kyle Young, Jarrod Duble, Juan Patrone, and Nate Cohen.
