On January 7, 2025, William James Aiken passed away peacefully at the age of 92 in the TN home of his youngest daughter Heather and son-in-law John. William (Bill) was born to Mary and Thomas Aiken in Los Angeles County, CA, where he remained the majority of his life, and had three older siblings whom he cherished—Jack, Thomas and Rosemary. Bill is survived by his loving ex-wife/companion Paula and three adoring children—Gregory Paul, Bridget Marie and Heather Louise—and grandchildren, great-grandchild, nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Bill’s formidable years include Catholic school and later seminary, where he earned a degree in philosophy and developed his love for serving God and people. He reminisced often and fondly about his life as a boy growing up in Beverly Hills/West Hollywood and the joys of experiencing the beauty that California once offered. “Father,” “uncle” and “friend” to many, Bill will be remembered largely for his steadfast generosity, levity/sense of humor, commitment to helping people (and animals!), Irish feistiness and devotion to his equally devoted cat, Samantha, whom he rescued from an alley. To his children, Bill offered unconditional love and laughter that was returned to him in the most significant of ways the final years of his life. Bill was lavished, honored, nurtured and ushered into heaven by the Spirit upon his last breath. Bill’s passing is our loss and heaven’s gain!
A family service will be held a later date. Woodfin Memorial Chapel is in charge of cremation arrangements www.woodfinchapel.com
