COLBERT COUNTY-There is a fantastic variety of events lined up for May in Colbert County, and we want to make sure everyone has the chance to get out and enjoy them.

April 30- May 3, 2026 – Cypress Moon Studios and The Full Moon Players present The
Hobbit, Cypress Moon Studios, 1000 Alabama Ave., Sheffield. Cypress Moon Studios and
The Full Moon Players present The Hobbit, written by Patricia Gray and based on the novel
by J.R.R. Tolkien, with performances from April 30 to May 3, 2026. Shows run Thursday
through Saturday at 7 PM and Saturday through Sunday at 2 PM, with school performances
available upon request. Tickets are $15 online and $20 at the door. For more information

April 29- May 3, 2026 – Spring Carnival, North Alabama State Fairgrounds, 1000
Alabama Ave., Sheffield. The North Alabama State Fair will host its Spring Carnival from
Wednesday, April 29, through Sunday, May 3, 2026, in Muscle Shoals. This seasonal event
features a full midway with carnival rides, games, and classic fair food at the North
Alabama State Fairgrounds. Gate hours are typically 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM on weekdays and

May 1, 2026 – Artistic Renderings Closing Reception, Tennessee Valley Museum of Art,
511 N. Water St., Tuscumbia. The Tennessee Valley Museum of Art will host a closing
reception for the “Artistic Renderings” exhibition on Friday, May 1, 2026. This reception
celebrates the successful display of artwork created by local students ranging from
kindergarten through the collegiate level. The event features light snacks and beverages,
which are included with regular museum admission; however, Tennessee Valley Arts

*May 2, 2026 – Recall LaGrange, LaGrange College Site Park, 1491 LaGrange College Rd,
Leighton. LaGrange College was Alabama’s first state-chartered college in 1830. It later
became a military institute and was known as the “West Point of the South.” Union Forces
burned the college and the town of LaGrange in 1863. The LaGrange Living Historical
Association will host Recall LaGrange each year, which presents living history events that commemorate the college and town. The free event includes tours of a log cabin village, wagon rides to historic LaGrange Cemetery, music, bake sale, arts and crafts, and vendors. May 2, 2026 – Library Yard Sale, Muscle Shoals Public Library, 1918 Avalon Ave., Muscle
Shoals. The Friends of the Library will host their Annual Indoor Yard Sale on Saturday, May
2, 2026, at the Muscle Shoals Public Library. The sale begins at 7:00 AM at 1918 Avalon
Avenue, offering a variety of items for early-morning shoppers. This indoor event provides
a comfortable environment to browse local finds while supporting library programs. For

May 2, 2026 – 2nd Annual Classics on the Mountain Car Show, Colbert Heights First
Baptist Church, 6000 Woodmont Dr., Tuscumbia. First Baptist Colbert Heights will host the
2nd Annual Classics on the Mountain car show on Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 10:00 AM to
2:00 PM in Tuscumbia. This family-friendly event is free for the public and features a wide
array of awards for categories including Best Car, Best Truck, Best Jeep, and a special Kid’s
Class for those 12 and under. Vehicle registration is $20 for the first entry and $10 for
subsequent entries, with all proceeds benefiting missions. Attendees can enjoy concessions,

May 4, 2026 – Mother’s Day Wreath Workshop, Tennessee Valley Museum of Art, 511 N.
Water St., Tuscumbia. The Tennessee Valley Art Association will host a Mother’s Day
Wreath Workshop with artist David Christopher on Monday, May 4, 2026, from 6:00 PM to
8:00 PM. This hands-on class is designed for all skill levels, offering step-by-step guidance
to create a custom seasonal wreath. Registration is $75, and proceeds support art

with a spring walk at Gattman Park in Muscle Shoals on Thursday, May 7, 2026. The walk
begins at 4:30 PM, providing a great opportunity for community members to stay active
and enjoy the local park. In the event of inclement weather, the walk will move to the YMCA

May 8, 2026 – Cowboy Logic Clinic, Seven Springs Lodge, 1292 Mount Mills Rd.,
Tuscumbia. Lee Hart, a multi-world champion in Extreme Cowboy Racing and Level 5
judge, will lead his “Cowboy Logic Clinic” at Seven Springs Lodge in Tuscumbia on Friday,
May 8, 2026. The training session aims to help riders better communicate with their horses
to build a more trusting and effective partnership. The cost for the clinic is $200 per rider,

May 8-10, 2026 – Moana Jr., The Ritz Theatre, 111 West 3rd St., Sheffield. Moana Jr. follows
the adventures of Moana, a strong-willed young woman, as she sets sail across the Pacific to

journey with the legendary demigod Maui, learning about courage, self-discovery, and the

*May 9, 2026 – 5th Annual Belle Mont Celtic Fest, Belle Mont Mansion, 1569 Cook Ln.,
Tuscumbia. The 5th Annual Belle Mont Celtic Festival will be held at Belle Mont Mansion,
1569 Cook Lane, Tuscumbia, AL 35674, on May 9, 2026. The outdoor festival will feature
world-class Celtic musicians staged on the sweeping lawn of the historic home. Inside Belle
Mont, you may enjoy chamber music, exhibits, demonstrations, and panel discussions on
the migratory trends into the Tennessee Valley of North Alabama by people with roots in
the Celtic British Isles. The festival will include arts and crafts, food, and Scottish
merchandise. Full-price “day-of” tickets will be available at the gate. Admission to the
museum will be free with festival tickets. Admission prices are $10 for adults, $5 for teens,

May 9, 2026 – Shefield PorchFest, Downtown Sheffield. Sheffield PorchFest returns on
Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, transforming the historic neighborhoods

event features local musicians performing on private porches, sidewalks, and front yards,

May 9, 2026 – Second Saturdays, Downtown Tuscumbia. The Second Saturday’s outdoor
market returns to downtown Tuscumbia on May 9, 2026, as part of its family-friendly
series. Held from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM, the event transforms the downtown area into a
vibrant marketplace featuring local artists, makers, bakers, and musicians. Visitors can
browse a variety of unique goods while enjoying live music and the community

May 9, 2026 – Mother’s Day Card-Making, Tennessee Valley Museum of Art, 511 N.  Water St., Tuscumbia. The Tennessee Valley Museum of Art will host a Mother’s Day card-making session on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Part of the museum’s Kids’ Saturday Activities, this event invites children to create unique, handmade cards for Mother’s Day with all supplies provided. May 9, 2026 – Mother’s Day Mayhem Race, Seven Springs Lodge, 1292 Mount Mills Rd.,
Tuscumbia. The Ozark Renegade Riders will present the Mother’s Day Mayhem Race,
sanctioned by the Extreme Cowboy Association, on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Seven Springs
Lodge in Tuscumbia. The competition begins at 9:30 AM following a 7:00 AM check-in and
9:00 AM walk-through, featuring various divisions from Lead-Line Young Guns to
Professional classes. This event, which runs rain or shine, also includes a Lee Hart
Horsemanship Clinic on Friday, May 8, for a fee of $200. Participants can enjoy full hook-up
camping and covered stalls on-site, and awards will be presented immediately following

This Birmingham-based non- profit artist co-operative, established in 2013, focuses on promoting the appreciation of printmaking and works on paper. The exhibition showcases the community-driven work of the co-op’s artists, highlighting their commitment to professional-quality studio practice

own baseball legend, the event will feature the Cumberland Baseball Club. Gates open at 1:00

May 21, 2026 – Game Night at Groundhog, Groundhog Coffee Co., 320 N. North
Montgomery Ave., Sheffield. Groundhog Coffee Co. will host a Game Night on Thursday, May
21, 2026, starting at 6:00 PM. Attendees can enjoy a special food and drink menu while
playing a variety of games, including Chess, Connect 4, Scrabble, and Uno. This community
event encourages friends to gather, grab a drink, and stay for an evening of local fun and
friendly competition.

May 21-24, 2026 – “Mean Girls”, The Ritz Theatre, 111 West 3rd St., Sheffield. The
Tennessee Valley Arts Association presents the musical production of “Mean Girls,” which
follows Cady Heron’s journey from the African savanna to the vicious social hierarchy of
suburban Illinois. To rise to the top, Cady takes on “The Plastics”—a trio of frenemies led
by Regina George—by going undercover, eventually learning to find her way back to her
true self. Performance dates are set for May 21st, 22nd, and 23rd, 2026, at 7:00 PM, with a

at Spring Park in Tuscumbia. Running from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM, the festival features live
music, various vendors, and a Kids Corner. This year’s event benefits The CU360 Sanctuary.

Monday, May 25, 2026, at the Colbert County Courthouse in Tuscumbia. The ceremony
begins at 11:00 AM at the Circle of Valor, located at the main entrance of the courthouse.
This annual event honors veterans of all wars and provides the community a space for

May 29, 2026 – Community Block Party, Muscle Shoals Amphitheater, 2010 Avelon Ave.,
Muscle Shoals. A free Community Block Party will take place at the Muscle Shoals
Amphitheater on Friday, May 29, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. This family-friendly
event features live music from DJ Jb Nelson of Mixed Entertainment, as well as food trucks,
free games, and inflatables for all ages. Sponsored by Team Mothershed with 5:41 Realty,
