FLORENCE-In a press conference on Monday, May 2 Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton announced that a warrant for Facilitating an Escape 1st Degree has been issued against Director of Corrections Vicky White.

Casey Cole White

Singleton went on to say “We know she participated – now whether she did that willing or if she was coerced, threatened somehow to have participated in this escape, not really sure.”  “But we know for sure she did participate.”

Video obtained showing the patrol vehicle that was used by White to transport Casey Cole White from the detention center…shows the patrol car stopped at an intersection eight minutes after leaving the detention center.  This video indicates they were never headed to the courthouse before abandoning the vehicle in a shopping center parking lot.  Singleton said investigators are working to verify several tips on what the two were driving after leaving the patrol vehicle.  He also said investigators are working to ascertain if there was any kind of relationship between the two.

Vicky White, who had been with the department for 17 years, had talked about retiring for the last three years and moving to the beach, Singleton said. Friday…the day she disappeared was scheduled to be her last day on the job although her retirement papers had not been filed.

This was not the first time Casey White had talked of escape…Sheriff Singleton said White had been caught plotting an escape from the Lauderdale County Detention Center back in 2020.  After a shank was found in his possession he was transferred back to the state Department of Corrections.  He was returned back to the detention center in February to attend scheduled court appearances.  He was to return to state custody the end of May.

White, 38 was awaiting trial on two counts of capital murder in connection with the stabbing death of Connie Ridgeway, 58.  Authorities say White had confessed to the murder.

On Sunday, the U.S. Marshals Service offered a

$10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Casey White and Vicky White, who authorities say are not related.

“That’s what a capital murder charge is – the possibility of death, so he has nothing to lose. With his violent past, he is extremely dangerous,” Singleton said Monday. “There’s going to be some law enforcement officers somewhere in this country or this state who are going to come across this guy. I can’t emphasize enough to our brothers and sisters in blue, don’t take any chances with this guy.”

Authorities say if you see them, do not approach, and call 911 immediately. If you have any information, contact the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office at (256) 760-5757.
