Virginia Cox “Gin” Burden, 93 of Arab Alabama, died Monday – May 30, 2016 at Shepherd’s Cove – Hospice of Marshall County.
She was born on April 22, 1923 in the Red Hill Community of Marshall County Alabama to Garnett Cox and Nannie Douglas Cox. She worked for the County Agent Extension office as a receptionist. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold LaWayne “Bud” Burden in December 1944. Mrs. Burden graduated from Arab High School.
She was of the United Methodist Faith.
She is survived by a sister: Mary Hunter; a grandson: James Burden (Erin); a great grand daughter: Ella Giles Burden. She was preceded in death by her husband: Harold LaWayne “Bud” Burden; parents: Garnett Cox & Nannie Douglas Cox; a son: James Harold “Jim” Burden; two sisters: Eva Rouse and Frances Huckaby.
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday – June 2, 2016 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel with Rev. Steve West officiating. Burial will be in Brookwood Cemetery. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.
Pallbearers will be John Gibson, Joseph Morris, Mark Morris, David Swords, Craig Northridge, Nels Strickland and David Skidmore.
Visitation will be 12:00 noon – 1:00 p.m. – Thursday- June 2, 2016, prior to the service.
