Vernon Lovell age 83 of Rogersville departed this life to go to his heavenly home June 5th, 2013 after a brief illness.
Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Rogersville Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel with Gerald Sockwell & David O’Connell officiating. Burial will follow in Civitan Cemetery with military honors. Serving as pallbearers will be Mr. Lovell’s family & friends.
He was a member of Oliver Church of Christ, a member of American Legion and retired from TVA/Browns Ferry. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the Korean War from 8/5/1950 to 4/14/1952. While serving in the Army, he received Korean Service Medal, W/2 Bronze Service Stars and United Nations Service Medal.
Mr. Lovell was preceded in death by his parents, Malchom C. Lovell & Evie Belle Lovell; daughter-in-law, Wanda; sister, Marjorie; brothers, Noel, Harvey and Lawrence; infant brothers, Obed and infant sister, Larron. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Bettye Ross Lovell; sons, Ronald Lovell, Roger G. Lovell and Mickey V. Lovell; daughter, Faye Griffin and husband, Bryant; grandchildren, Todd Lovell and wife, Shellie, Stephen Lovell and Shaley Lovell; great grandchildren, Bella Grace, Bryson Ross and Blair Elaine; step-grandsons, Jody Griffin and wife, Toni and Jerry Griffin; step-great grandchildren, Lucas Griffin, James William Griffin, Rachel Griffin and Andrew Griffin; brothers, Early and wife, Dean, Ralph and wife, Joyce and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to Boy’s and Girl’s Home, Greenhill, Oliver Church of Christ or charity of your choice.
The family would like to thank 5th floor staff at ECM Hospital for the care of our husband, daddy, granddaddy and great-granddaddy. We would also like to thank Amanda & Bailey, Rhonda & Stan for helping with our mother during Vernon’s sickness. Appreciation goes to Kellie Cross, Stephanie Brittnell, Davie Smith, Tammy Timbes who have been a great help during this time. Also all friends and neighbors for the calls, visits and prayers.
