Verna Jean Dunnavant of Newman Rd, Ardmore TN passed away on Wednesday, Feb 1, 2023 at NHC Healthcare in Pulaski, TN. She was born in Nashville, TN on May 1, 1938 and was 84 years old.
Verna Jean was a homemaker and was married to her husband Jimmy Dunnavant for 54 years. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Verna Jean delighted in her role as “Maw Maw” to her four grandchildren and soon to be six great grandchildren. She loved her family dearly and was always happiest having family get-togethers and playing card and board games. Oh how she loved to laugh with her family during these special times. Verna Jean was a friend to all she met. Her favorite pastimes were putting together puzzles, baseball games and watching game shows. Verna Jean never missed an opportunity to watch and cheer on her children and grandchildren when they were playing sports or participating in activities. Her favorite holiday was Christmas and she always looked forward to putting up her tree and decorating the house so she could host and celebrate it with the family that she loved so much. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
A Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 5, 2023 from 12:00 until 2:00 pm at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will follow at 2:00pm on Sunday, Feb 5, 2023 in the Chapel of Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Hasting officiating. The burial will follow at Dunnavant Cemetery on Moore Hollow Rd in Prospect, TN.
Verna Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Madge South and Vernon Henderson of Nashville, TN; Brothers, William (Billy) Nickols and C.H.(Corky) McBroom of Nashville, TN; Sisters, Ruby Jo Donaldson (and husband J.T.), Diana Henderson and Sandra Bass (Bobby) of Nashvile, TN; and Son, Vernon Wayne Rolin of Memphis, TN.
She is survived by her husband, Jimmy Dunnavant of Newman Rd, Ardmore, TN; Son, Jason Dunnavant (Paula Johnson) of Newman Rd, Ardmore, TN; Daughter, Susan Rolin of Newman Rd, Prospect, TN; Grandchildren, Jordan Rolin Dorl (Shay Dorl) of Memphis, TN, Krista Dunnavant Wiley of Ardmore, TN, Matthew Dunnavant (Grace Hickman) of Pulaski, TN, Morgan Dunnavant (Carson Appleton) of Pulaski, TN; Great Grandchildren, Cheyenne Wood and Koleson Wiley (Krista Wiley) Wyatt, McKinley, Charlie and soon to be arriving, Olivia Dorl (Jordan and Shay Dorl), Nephew David Donaldson of Nashville, TN; Special mention…Billy Gray of Memphis, TN, Clayton McAlister of Prospect, TN and her beloved dog Fritz.
