TENNESSEE VALLEY-Join us in celebrating TVA’s 90th anniversary in 2023! This summer, we’re offering the opportunity to tour several of our monumental dams.
From the White House
For our 90th anniversary, President Biden offered his congratulations to TVA for returning hope, opportunity, and dignity to the region and helping make the Tennessee Valley region the great community it is today.
Celebrate TVA Dams
The Unified Development of the Tennessee River plan stressed TVA was to provide flood control, navigation and electricity for the region. TVA’s dams are tangible evidence of its primary mission: improving life in the Tennessee Valley. We’re celebrating the plan with an in-depth look at 32 of the dams it comprises.
Dam Tours
This summer, TVA is offering public tours of some of our dams, allowing you to see inner workings of a dam and learn how we produce clean hydropower while ensuring the health of the waterways.
- Each tour will be limited to 20 people.
- Tours will be offered twice a day, at 10:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Each tour lasts 60-90 minutes.
- Since demand is very high, we will use a random drawing to select from the pool of registrants. You will be notified by email indicating whether or not you were selected. Registering does NOT guarantee a space on the tour.
- Please do not register if you are a current TVA employee.
- See below for the registration timeframes. A link will be available on this page when registration is open.
Note: Because Raccoon Mountain is undergoing an outage, visitors will not be allowed on the generator floor. You will be able to ride the elevator down into the mountain and view the inside of the facility from the overlook.
