FLORENCE-The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports a two-vehicle accident in Lauderdale County that has taken the life of a Florence man and sent another person to hospital:
“A two-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, has claimed the life of a Florence man.
Christopher K Calvert, 55, was fatally injured when the 2003 Ford Ranger he was driving struck the 2022 Freightliner Cascadia tractor-trailer driven by Xavier A. Collings, 31, of Biloxi, Miss. Calvert was pronounced deceased at the scene. Collings was injured and transported to North Alabama Medical Center for treatment.
The crash occurred on Alabama 20 near the 15 mile marker, approximately six miles west of Florence, in Lauderdale County.
Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.”
