Athens Police Arrest Two Suspects Charged With Drug Trafficking

ATHENS-Narcotic investigators with the Athens Police Department and the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation into David Lee Johnson for Drug Trafficking approximately one month ago. Johnson, a truck driver, was suspected of using his truck to transport large quantities of marijuana from out of state.

On April 18, 2025, the Athens Police Department executed a search warrant at Johnson’s residence on Wales Road in Limestone County. During the search, officers discovered approximately 45 pounds of marijuana (valued at $72,000), 656 consumable products containing THC, 8 long guns, 6 pistols, and $2,542.00 in US currency.

David Lee Johnson (age 58) and Brenda Jean Lucas (age 53) were arrested for Trafficking in Cannabis following the search.

Both were released on April 20, 2025, after posting a $100,000.00 bond.
