Charlie Rose Hancock, age 89, of Cowan, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 31, 1935, in Lauderdale County, Alabama, to the late Richard and Verna (Thomas) McCain. Rose, an elder and active member of her church, cherished her roles in the women’s groups, the choir, and as a beloved Sunday school teacher at Cowan Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Her commitment extended beyond the church as she supported countless mission trips and served as an educator in the school systems for over 30 years. She is remembered by many for her positive impact as a first-grade teacher at Cowan Elementary. Known for her nurturing spirit, she was a guiding light to many, inspiring them with her wisdom and generosity. Rose was a lifelong lover of literature; she found joy and adventure within the pages of books. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, B.J. Hancock; four brothers; and 2 sisters. She is survived by her loving children, Tim (Maureen) Hancock, David (Paula) Hancock, Paul (Dana) Hancock, Rosemary Hancock, and Mark (Deanna) Hancock; fourteen grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. Visitation with the family will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM, at Cowan Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM at the church.
