SHEFFIELD– More than 300 student anglers and over 150 boats are expected for the
BassTactix Alabama High School Fishing Tournament on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at
Pickwick Lake. The event is sponsored by Colbert County Tourism and hosted by the Clarion
Inn in Sheffield.
A pre-tournament meeting will be held at the Clarion Inn on Friday, April 25 at 6 p.m. Boats
will launch from Riverfront Park in Sheffield at 6 a.m. Saturday, with the weigh-in at 3 p.m.
Spectators are welcome.
BassTactix Alabama is a Christian-based, 501(c)(3) nonprofit offering competitive fishing for
Kindergarten through 12th grade students. Coaches—often parents—compete in a separate
division, making this a truly family-oriented event.
Sanctioned by The Bass Federation (TBF), BassTactix provides youth anglers a pathway to
national and world finals. In the 2023–24 season, more than $1.5 million in scholarships were
offered to 375 young anglers.
“For me, this is home water. We love coming here because the hospitality is unmatched, and
some of the best fishing anywhere happens right here on the Tennessee River. We’re hoping for
some personal bests this year. This tournament is also a qualifier for our state championship next
April, which will be back here in Colbert County. We’d love for everyone to come out and
support these young anglers as they do what they love.” – Shane Mansell
