KNOXVILLE, TN– Electricity keeps the economy moving, and the Tennessee Valley Authority says we need more of it. On Monday, TVA released a Request for Proposals, for firm capacity between 50 to 1,000 megawatts. Interested parties with dispatchable power such as natural gas, nuclear, hydro or coal generation can review the request at TVA’s website Doing Business With TVA. Electricity must be delivered to TVA’s service area between Oct.  2025 and Dec. 2030. Respondents must submit a proposal by May 21, 2025.

The request is part of TVA’s strategy to unleash American energy to power our region’s growth. Electricity will fuel America’s economic prosperity and power artificial intelligence, quantum computers, and advanced manufacturing. These are the industries that will create jobs and investment to benefit families across the region.

The request augments TVA’s significant new generation investments in its power system. TVA’s current planning assumption includes building about 6,300 megawatts of new firm, dispatchable generation by 2029, including 3,050 megawatts under construction. These investments will build an American energy future that ensures low-cost, reliable power for our 10 million customers, grows our region’s economy, and helps communities thrive.
