April 20, 1939 – May 27, 2026Thermon Leon Filmore
Mr. Thermon Leon Filmore, 87, of Albertville passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2026. Leon served his country in the Air Force from 1956-1960 where he was stationed in California and Morocco. Upon discharge, he married his wife of 55 years, Louise Goble Filmore on October 4, 1960. Leon worked his way up in the textile industry and retired as a supervisor. During his entire career, he only worked with two companies.
Leon was a devout Christian. He loved and cherished his church family. To hear him pray and praise his Heavenly Father would give chills to his fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. He served his church in many ways including teaching Sunday School and singing in the church choir. He also volunteered his time helping with numerous projects in his community. He was an avid Alabama fan and traveled with his wife in their motor home following the Tide to home and away games. He was a long-time member of Tide Pride. In his younger years, he took the time to become a pilot and loved flying.
Leon was also a long-standing member of the Masons. He loved his fellow brothers. He served in numerous capacities including as Chaplain and as Worshipful Master.
Leon was devoted to his family and loved them dearly. His infectious smile, laughter and spirit could captivate anyone. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
Leon is survived by his children, Rick Filmore (Brandie), Sandy Hardin and Michelle Brown (Roy). He had seven grandchildren, Nik Filmore, Nicole Filmore (Sam), Austin Chandler (Kinsley), Bralie Chandler, Seath Hardin, Claire Brown and Jonas Brown. He had three great-grandchildren, Chloe Hardin, Ella Hardin and Glen Anglade.
He is also survived by his brother, Kenneth Filmore (Sandi) and sister, Carol Anderton (Dwight). Also, special family members Selina Ortiz (Shawn), Betty Bowen, Ronnie and April Norton, Draco Stitts, Tyler Wise, and a host of family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Louise Filmore, son-in-law James Hardin, parents Cecil Filmore and Ona Mae Filmore and sister Margie Kelley.
Services will be held at Albertville Memorial Chapel May 30th. Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00 with family viewing from 12:00-12:30. Service will begin at 2:00 with burial following at Alder Springs Cemetery.
Flowers May be sent to Albertville Memorial Chapel or donations made to Hospice of Marshall County.
