Sullivan “Sully” McNab ran with her perfectly healed body into the arms of Jesus on the morning of March 10th, 2026, after a courageous 649-day battle with brain cancer. She was five years old.
Sully lived her life with a simple wisdom that many adults never find. Often when you asked her a question about the future or growing up, she would respond with a simple but sometimes frustrating answer: “Never know.” In her own quiet way, she carried a peace that she didn’t need to have everything figured out.
That didn’t mean Sully didn’t have ideas and opinions. One of her big plans was to start a toy shop where all the proceeds would go to the homeless. Even during the last few months, when she was mostly confined to home, she could often be found carefully stringing beads into keychains. They were not for sale. They were gifts. Gifts for the homeless.
Sully also taught her family what real prayer looks like. When there was no medicine or words left to fix a problem, it was in those moments we would see her clasp her tiny hands together and pray out loud. Watching her pray, we witnessed firsthand the quiet and powerful presence of God.
She taught us that a life can be well lived with just a little laughter, a lot of love, and a bunch of funny little one-liners that we will never forget.
Though grief could swallow us whole, we know Sully would put us all to work. She had a long list of tasks, and we intend to stay busy carrying them out until we meet again. And may we all make good use of the power of negotiation, because whenever we asked something of her, she would always say, “How about we make a deal?”
Sully is survived by her mommy, daddy who she occasionally but lovingly called “Mitchell”, her beloved big sister, Scarlette “Sissy”, Mimi, Granda, or together she called them her “two ol’ grandmas” (Mimi and Granda), Mac, Papa, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. As she once proudly told her St. Jude care team, “My family rolls deep.”
While her time here was far too short, Sully’s life was filled with a depth of love, faith, and joy that we know to be eternal.
Until we see you again, Super Sully.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home, with the funeral immediately following in the chapel. Burial will be in Huntsville Memory Gardens. If asked what Sully’s favorite color was, she always responded “all the colors”. So, feel free to wear your favorite!
