Serve Alabama to Host Third Grant Workshop in Huntsville

servealabamalogoMONTGOMERY— Serve Alabama will host a third Grant Writing workshop in the Huntsville area in partnership with the United Way of Huntsville. The workshops will be held Thursday, November 12, 2015 from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm at Kratos Defense, 4904 Research Drive Huntsville, Alabama 35805.
The schedule for the day will begin with an AmeriCorps Information session, followed by a Basic Grant Writing workshop and end with a new workshop titled The Importance of Data Collection. The Basic Grant Writing workshop is an interactive workshop that will provide participants with the basic skills needed to prepare a professional grant-writing-tipspersuasive and viable grant proposal written to benefit an organization, such as a non-profit, faith-based or community-based organization. Participants will re-view and practice the basic steps of writing a successful grant proposal and how to create a compelling case. The participants will also learn how to form proposal concepts, needs statements, goals, objectives and strategies, basics of budgets, evaluations and more. In The Importance of Data Collection workshop participants will learn how data is defined and why the process of data collection is important for their organization. The various methods of data collection will be reviewed and also the importance of deter-mining and documenting impact and change as a result of their organization’s programs. The types of data will be explained in detail along with the best method to use to show impact when using the infor-mation in grant proposals, which can assist in fundability. Learning these basic skills will assist you in revealing the strongest and weakest parts of your organization’s programs to assist in determining if programs should be continued, modified, discontinued, or expanded.
