Scott Alan SmithScott Alan Smith, 56, of Starkville, MS, passed from this life on Friday, October 1, 2021, at his home.

He was born in Jackson, TN on September 16, 1965 and lived most of his early life in Bolivar where he graduated from Central High School in 1983. A lover of all animals, especially his dogs, he worked at Old Hatchie Veterinary Clinic during high school. After graduation, Scott worked for the USDA as a cotton-spotter. He also worked at Ames Plantation and helping his father on the farm.

He obtained his bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee at Martin in 1989 and continued his education at Mississippi State University pursing his master’s. Scott was a resident of Starkville since the early 1990’s and had worked 20 years for Prestage Farms.

A member of West Memorial Baptist Church near Saulsbury, he enjoyed grilling, football, music, playing the guitar and collecting large scale die-cast tractors in his leisure time.

Survivors include his mother, Evelyene Hoover of Hickory Valley; his father, Don Smith of West Paducah, KY; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by four aunts, Hazel Yopp, Peggy Goodman, Lavon White and Faye Lester; two uncles, J. W. Cossar and Dennis Smith; maternal grandparents, Jewell Wesley and Frances McCommon Cossar; and paternal grandparents, Herman and Hazel White Smith.
