Robert Edward Lovelady, Sr., 96, of Decatur, passed away on
Tuesday, April 8 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. A graveside service
will be held on Friday, April 11 at 11:00 a.m. at Roselawn Cemetery
in Decatur.
Robert was born April 1, 1929 in Lawrence County to H.E. and
Sarah Stewart Lovelady. He had three brothers, Howard, Eugene,
and Morris, all who preceded him in death.
He was married for 66 years to Bessie Lura Terry Lovelady, who
preceded him in death in 2018.
Mr. Lovelady was preceded in death by his son, Phillip, and his
daughter, Nancy Lovelady Street.
He is survived by his daughter, Marsha Lovelady Purcell (Ed), his
son Robert E. Lovelady, Jr. (Patti); his grandchildren Carrie
Lovelady Bonham (Steven), Lindsey Skinner Meeks, Tyler Skinner
(Melissa), Chris Street, and Ben Street; and his great
grandchildren, Brady, Cooper, and Kenzie Bonham, Landon
Altman (Priscilla), Jacob and Caleb Meeks, Harper, Hannah,
Henley, and Holt Skinner.
Mr. Lovelady served as a Corporal in the Korean War and was
retired from Monsanto. He was member of First Baptist Church of
Decatur.
The family would like to thank Riverside Senior Living/Decatur
Home Care, Morningside Assisted Living, and Decatur Rehab and
Healthcare Center for taking care of him the last 5 years of his life.
They also would like to thank Decatur Morgan Hospital for their
compassionate care during his final days.

Acts 1:8 (P.O. Box 1667 Decatur, AL 35602) or your favorite
charity.
