Quincy Lamont Crittendon, fondly known as “Big Q” to some and “Mont” to others, left this world peacefully on July 1, 2025 at the age of 50.  Quincy, a loving devoted husband, a wonderful father and a cherished friend who enriched the lives of all who knew him. Quincy affectionately called “Coach Q” had a love for sports, was a talented basketball player that poured his love and knowledge of the game into many of the youth in Decatur. Quincy held many titles in his life, but his favorite role was being a husband. He let the world know how much he loved and adored his wife Chikena; they shared a very special type of love. Quincy had a big heart and as many would say he was just a “Good Dude”.  While Quincy left us far too soon, the impact he had on our community, in the lives of his family, friends and all who had the pleasure of seeing that big smile will be felt for years to come.

Quincy was born on February 20, 1975 in Decatur, Alabama to Angela Crittendon and Jimmie Orr.  He attended Decatur City schools, his love for basketball grew and his talents exploded on the courts. Quincy graduated from Decatur High School Class of 1993.

In his early years, he made the decision to accept Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. As an adult, he became a member of Macedonia C.P. Church in America in Decatur to ensure his salvation before he departed, he rededicated his life to Christ by baptism

During Quincy’s time here on earth he touched many lives. He lived a life of integrity, quiet strength, and enduring kindness. He devoted himself entirely to his family, friends, and his community.
