Preston D McAbee, a native of Millerville, Al passed from this life to the next with his Heavenly Father early in the morning of April 9, 2025. Born in the Millerville area on March 8, 1931, to parents Mac and Claudie McAbee on a small farm. Preston grew up in poverty in Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina working as part a share cropping family. With the encouragement of his English Teacher and Agriculture teacher at Millerville School, he enrolled at Auburn University and graduated with a BS in Chemistry, Botany, and Biology. He worked as a Biochemist in the paper, industrial coatings and Agricultural industries. His final career move was as a consultant in the industrial coatings industry. Preston lived the final years of his life in Fayetteville Ga passing away at a Senior Care facility near Griffin GA. He is preceded in death by his parents, his son Dan and many cousins and family members. He is survived by sons Wallace and Ken, 4 grandsons, two granddaughters in law, a great grandson and a soon to be born great granddaughter.
A graveside service will be held at the Millerville Baptist Church cemetery on Tuesday, April 15 at 12:00PM CST. Benefield Funeral Home of Ashland presiding.
