Peggy J. Burgess, 78, passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at NMMC-Tupelo, MS. Peggy was born on November 12, 1944, in Thaxton, MS to Roy Everette and Maggie Pearle Dillard Carwyle. A very sweet and loving lady, Peggy would help anyone in need. She went to Thaxton High School and retired from Rochester Midland Corporation in Montgomery, IL. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed watching TV, especially crime TV shows.
Peggy is survived by her husband, Leroy Burgess; her children, Pamela Ellis (Jeff) and Greg Raines (Cindy); her brother, Rickey Carwyle (Candy); and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Betty Fike.
Services will be at 2PM, Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc. Visitation will begin at 12PM and continue to service time. Burial will follow in Thaxton Cemetery.
