  F.12.12.23 Paul Gifin Bingham.jpgPaul Gifin Bingham, 79, of Russellville, Alabama, passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 8, 2023. Paul was a pillar of the Russellville community, cherished by all who knew him.

Paul was a lifelong resident of Russellville, AL and graduated from Russellville High School in 1962. The following year he married his loving wife, “Shirley Fay” Britnell.

A successful businessman and entrepreneur, Paul began his journey with the establishment of Bingham’s Texaco. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to create numerous ventures, including B&M Builders Supply, B&M Ready Mix, B&M Trucking Division, B&M Specialties, The Movie Place, the development of Brookewood Subdivision, and Paul Bingham Rental Properties. His contributions to the local economy were immense and lasting.

Paul’s commitment to community service was evident in his roles as former President of the Shoals Home Builders Association and as a former member of the Russellville Industrial Board. His dedication to these roles reflected his deep love for his hometown.

A devout Christian, Paul served his church in various capacities, including as a Sunday school teacher. His faith was a guiding force in his life, inspiring him to act with kindness and generosity at every turn.

An avid golfer, Paul enjoyed participating in the Pro-Am golf tournaments. He had a unique sense of humor, often joking about checking on “real estate” that had “18 holes.”

Paul’s greatest joy was his family. Known lovingly as “PaPaul,” he had a boundless love for his children, granddaughters, and great-grandchildren. His love was unconditional, and he was always ready to offer help with no expectation of anything in return. He was a source of unwavering support and strength, his legacy reflected in the love and unity of his family. He was the best Dad, PaPaul, Brother and Friend.

Paul is survived by his son, Greg Bingham; granddaughters, Torey Behel (Barrett) and Sara Hill (Jacob); great-grandchildren, Jack, Stella, Henry, and Ruthie Behel; son-in-law, Kevin Clement (Gina); daughter-in-law, Linda Holcomb; brother, James Bingham (Bettye); sister, Janet Todd (Max); and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Shirley; daughter, Kimberly “Kim” Bingham Clement; and parents, Claten Clyde and Lillian “Idell” Bingham.

Paul’s life was a testament to his character: a beloved family man, a respected businessman, and a faithful servant of his community. His memory will be treasured, and his legacy will continue to inspire.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. at Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville, with Richard Parker officiating. Visitation will precede the service from 12:00 to 2:00 P.M. Burial will follow in Franklin Memory Gardens. Pallbearers include Barrett Behel, Jack Behel, Henry Behel, Jacob Hill, Kevin Clement, Gary Britnell, David Richardson, Jonathan Cooper, Andrew Cooper, Chris Cooper, and Brad Borden.

Pinkard Funeral Home of Russellville assisted the family.
