Patricia “Patti” Reeve Monroe, 96, of Huntsville, passed away in the early morning hours of April 10, 2024, at her home of 50 years in NW Huntsville.
Patti was born on Saint Patrick’s Day, 1928, to Keith and Minerva Reeve in Urbana, Illinois. She attended Alabama Polytechnic Institute, “Auburn”, where she earned her BS in Elementary Education. Upon graduation, Patti married Joseph “Joe” Monroe of Huntsville.
Patti loved working as a full-time Elementary School teacher for a brief interval, but her supreme joy came from raising her three children, Susan, Michael, and Raymond, and then in later life, working as a governess for multiple families in Huntsville. Throughout her many years in Huntsville, Patti filled in at various Elementary and Middle Schools as a substitute teacher, and she also worked as a caregiver to the elderly. Patti was a faithful and loving friend to many, and it may be well said that she “never met a stranger”.
Patti is survived by her daughter, Susan Haskell; sons, Michael, and Raymond Monroe; grandchildren, Chris, Paul, and Joe Haskell, and Holly, Hannah, Heidi, and John Monroe.
Visitation for Mrs. Monroe will be held at First United Methodist Church on Sunday, April 14, 2024, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Service will follow at 3:00 pm in the chapel on Clinton Avenue with Coy Hallmark officiating.
Berryhill Funeral Home is assisting the family.
