Pamela Ranel Hall, Ph.D., passed away April 8, 2026, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. She was born April 17, 1967, to Rayford and Nellie (Sharp) Hall and was raised in Skyline, Alabama.

Pam graduated from Skyline High School in 1985. She was awarded a Bachelor of
Science in Microbiology (1989) and Master of Science in Molecular Biology (1999) from the University of Alabama-Huntsville. Pam went on to earn her Ph.D. in Pharmacology from Case Western Reserve University in 2004. Dr. Hall completed postdoctoral fellowships at the National Institute of Health and later at the University of New Mexico (UNM), where she would ultimately build her career as a tenured Associate Professor within UNM’s College of Pharmacy, and serving as a Principal Investigator on numerous funded grants. Pam was a highly respected researcher and scholar among her peers. Pam devoted her research to the study of Staphylococcus aureus bacterial infections and was granted patents for innovative contributions towards development of a potential vaccine. She was a professor who generously dedicated herself to the intellectual growth and achievement of the many students and postdoctoral fellows that she mentored.

Survivors include her loving partner William Volf (son Nathaniel), of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Aunts Lola Bea (Hall) West, Betty (Sharp) Shelton, and Eva (Sharp) Hall; Uncles Cecil Lloyd Hall, Bobby D Sharp, and Eddie R Sharp; and numerous cousins and many friends, students and colleagues. Special thanks to Iva Volf for her patience, support, and tender care during Pam’s final months.

Pam was preceded in death by her parents Rayford and Nellie Hall, Grandparents Homer J and Hazel (Bohanon) Sharp and Price and Alma (Hass) Hall.

A graveside service will be held at Gold Cemetery at 2pm on June 6, 2026. (In case of rain, service will be held at Letcher Church of God.
