Oscar Homer Ford, 88, of Huntsville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 7, 2024. He was born in Talladega, AL to James and Louise Ford. Upon graduating from Talladega High School, he joined the U.S. Navy to serve our country. He married the love of his life, Gloria June Blackburn and they made a home together for over 56 years traveling to California, South Carolina and settling in Huntsville, Alabama. He was a contractor for Marshall Space Flight Center for over 35 years where he received the Silver Snoopy award in 1991 for his dedication and support contributing to space flight safety and mission success.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria June, and his parents, James, and Louise Ford.

 

He is survived by his two children, Paul Ford (Dawn), of Meridianville, AL and Sherry Hall (Patrick) of Plant City, FL; six grandchildren, Ansley (Jason), Taylor (Justin), Matthew, Peyton, Dylan, and Connor; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Pat Studdard of Talladega AL; and two brothers, Bob Ford of Talladega AL, and Jimmy Ford of LaFayette GA.

 

Visitation will be Monday, December 16, 2024, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Maple Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
