MONTGOMERY – Data collected and analyzed by the Alabama Department of Labor’s Labor Market Information (LMI) Division shows that as of November 2021, the yearly comparison of online job ads is 97,330, up 41% from November 2020. The monthly total of online job ads for November 2021 is up 3.1% with 26,524 new online ads.
The five occupations with the most online job ads continue to be for registered nurses, retail salespersons, supervisors of retail salespersons, sales representatives, and truck drivers with 15,724 ads placed for those occupations in November.
The HWOL data is compiled from all online job postings in the state, including those posted on the state’s free online jobs database, AlabamaWorks.alabama.gov, and other sources, such as traditional job boards, corporate boards, and social media sites.
Sixteen percent of job ads have salaries of $75,000 and above; 14% have salaries in the $50-75,000 range; 21% have salaries in the $35-49,000 range; and 49% have salaries of $35,000 or under.
The top two employers posting the most online ads in November were UAB Health System with 1,581 and Huntsville Hospital with 1,551. The rest of the top 10 were: University of South Alabama (892), Walmart / Sam’s (631), Auburn University (617), Lowe’s (600), Baptist Health (596), University of Alabama at Birmingham (559), Encompass Health (522), and Regions with (487).
Industrial Engineers are the focus of this month’s in-depth analysis by the LMI division. The median annual salary is advertised as $70,053 with 25% earning more than $80,779. In the last 12 months there were 545 online ads for this occupation.
Industrial Engineers design, develop, test, and evaluate integrated systems for managing industrial production processes, including human work factors, quality control, inventory control, logistics and material flow, cost analysis, and production coordination.
