Wilson gets a hit against Wallace State and leads the team with a .388 batting average
MUSCLE SHOALS & PHIL CAMPBELL – The Northwest-Shoals Community College Patriots baseball team lost a four-game series to the Wallace State Community College Lions on March 30th and April 1st.
Game one started a disturbing trend of the Patriots falling behind early. NW-SCC trailed 3-0 after the first inning. The Patriots lost the game 5-2.
Samuel Pace pitched one inning for the Patriots. Michael Pfeiffer pitched five innings, allowing nine hits and five runs. Alex Wilson went 2-2 at the plate, scoring once.
The Patriots lost game two 10-5. Pace pitched 4.1 innings allowing five hits and three runs.
Caleb Davis went 2-4 at the plate. Davis managed to score two runs with two RBIs.
On April 1st, the Patriots suffered a game one loss of 15-9. Emitt Green pitched 2.2 innings for the Patriots along with Cason Henry who also threw 2.2 innings.
Wilson went 2-3, scoring three times. Davis went 4-5, scoring once and adding two RBIs.
Ethan Muncher was the starting pitcher for NW-SCC in game two, as the Patriots lost 8-3. Muncher pitched six innings giving up eight hits, eight runs and six walks.
Wilson went 2-4, scoring once. Garrett Day went 1-3, scoring once.
The Patriots’ doubleheader against Bevill State Community College (BSCC) on April 6th was postponed due to rain.
The Patriots swept BSCC in an April 8th Alabama Community College Conference doubleheader.
The Patriots won game one 4-3 after taking an early 4-0 lead in the first inning. Cade Prestegard’s double with outs scored three runs and that’s all NW-SCC would need with the way its pitcher was throwing.
Pace was outstanding in his start on the mound, as he went seven innings allowing four hits, three runs, two walks and struck out six batters.
The Patriots won game two 2-0 as two pitchers combined on a three-hit shutout. Henry went six strong innings with nine strikeouts and Muncher pitched the seventh inning to earn a save.
Taylor Bush went 2-3 at the plate, scoring once. Nick Smith and Thorpe had two hits apiece.
Coach David Langston’s team is now 16-20 and will host Central Alabama Community College in a doubleheader on April 13th. The teams will travel to Alexander City for a Saturday doubleheader with first pitch coming at 1 p.m.
