DECATUR-The Morgan County Sheriff’s Department issued a statement concerning the assault on a Corrections Officer:
“On December 11, 2022, Ashley Nicole Taymon, 36 of Harvest, was arrested on a court order after an altercation at the Community Corrections Office. Due to the altercation she was taken to Decatur Morgan Hospital where Corrections Officer, Sandra Barnes remained with her.
While at the Hospital, Taymon rushed out of a restroom, shoved CO Barnes and declared she was not going back to jail. Taymon rushed from the room, chased by the CO Barnes who successfully deployed her Taser.
Taymon continued to fight CO Barnes, striking her in the face and eye several times. CO Barnes was able to take Taymon into custody and restrain her.
Medical staff then treated CO Barnes for her injuries.
Investigator Brooks with the Criminal Investigations Division obtained warrants for:
Assault 2nd- Assault on a Peace Officer
Escape 3rd.
Taymon is currently held with No Bond. Taymon was transported to and booked in the Morgan County Jail.
Corrections Officer Barnes has returned to work and continues to recover. We appreciate the care and treatment rendered by the staff at Decatur Morgan Hospital.
