Mary 1Mrs. Mary Lou Gatewood Capshaw of Middleton departed this life at the age of 90 years Tuesday night, March 26, 2013 at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth, Mississippi.

She was born in Saulsbury April 9, 1922 to the late George Booker and Rachael Benton Sexton Gatewood. She was the third of eight children, four boys and four girls. She was saved in 1939 at New Bethel Baptist Church of Middleton. Her father was a farmer and her mother was a homemaker. They were members of West Memorial Baptist Church in Saulsbury.

On December 23, 1939 she was united in marriage to Mr. William Grady Capshaw who preceded her in death November 11, 1999. She worked as a homemaker and was a member of the Middleton First Baptist Church. The most important things in her life were her love for her Lord and faithfulness to His church. She devoted her life to her family and her church, teaching Sunday School for over 50 years, hosting visiting preachers and participating in the WMU.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Jean Capshaw Cruse and husband Jamie of Moscow; three sons, Donald Lee Capshaw and wife Cookie of Destin, Florida, William Grady Capshaw, Jr. of Middleton and Jeffery Lynn Capshaw and wife Cynthia of Middleton; two sisters, Dorothy Gatewood Capshaw of Oswega, Illinois and Imogene Rogers of Memphis; two brothers, Doris Gatewood of Memphis and Joe Gatewood of Middleton; eight grandchildren, Steve Capshaw, Stacie Capshaw Hearn and husband Wendel, Emily Cruse, Erik Cruse, Kendall Cruse, Matthew Capshaw, Nathan Capshaw and Natalie Capshaw; nine great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tracy Lynn Koch; two brothers, Buddy Gatewood and Junior Gatewood; and one sister, Geneva Schoffner.
