It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Margaret Melissa Higgins Day of Huntsville, AL at the age of 92. Margaret went to be with the Lord on December 25, 2024. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother. She brought joy to all who knew her.
Margaret was born on June 6, 1932, in Cullman, AL. She worked for AT&T many years before retiring. Margaret took great delight in traveling abroad with her sister and had many memorable trips with The Experience Adult Group and performed with the Hallelujah Choir from First Baptist Church in Huntsville, AL. She also enjoyed going to Broadway Theater League plays.
In addition to her musical pursuits, Margaret had a remarkable artistic flare for decorating and art painting, which she expressed in her home and through her creative projects.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Hobert J. Day; her parents, Harold and Flora Higgins; and grandsons, Daniel Day and Nathan Day.
Survivors include sons, Mark (Lisa) Day and Wesley Day; grandsons, Ryan (Yolanda) Day and Jeremy (Lauren) Day; 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Higgins Barnett; nieces; and grandnieces.
A graveside service will be held for family and friends at 11:00 a.m. Monday, Dec 30, 2024, at Cullman City Cemetery, 812 9th Street SW, Cullman, AL 35055.
