Margaret Elizabeth Haddock Lard, age 85, passed away June 27, 2016. Visitation will be Friday, July 1, 2016, from 10-11 a.m. at Spry-Williams Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Glenn Murks and Brother Roger Houston officiating. Burial will be at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Lard and her husband previously operated Lard Furniture Company in Florence. She later worked for United Furniture Company. She loved yard sales. She has been a caretaker to many in her life and was always willing to help anyone, even a stranger, in need.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glynn “Pete” Lard; parents, Andrew Thomas and Mary Beatrice Cobb Haddock; sister, Nellie Sanderson; brothers, Thomas H. and James Clyde Haddock; grandchildren, David Glen and Troy Wayne Rhodes; and nephew, Bob Sanderson Jr.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Strube and husband, Roy; great-grandchildren, Shanie Rhodes Wilbanks, Trevor Rhodes, and Madison Rhodes; and great-great grandchildren, Adalyn Wilbanks and Carter Blakney; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express appreciation to Dr. McFall, Dr. Holden, Alacare Home Health and Hospice, especially Suzanne, Deborah, Shannon and Tracy, and the nurses in the Pallative Care Unit of ECM for their loving care.
